A Lego Hockey Man, France Day At School, Learning How
to Pedal and Learning How to Stop!
This was an action packed week. It started with working on
keeping his head up in skating on Saturday and on Friday
evening he started the challenging task of learning how to do
a stop on ice skates. For anyone who hasn't done it,
stopping is harder than going and requires more skill. It's
also extremely difficult to do in rented skates because they
don't have much of an edge.
We've set up a little hockey goal in the house and Sawyer
couldn't be happier. Predictably Mommy and Daddy are
usually relegated to goalie. He's getting better at controlling
the ball on his stick and making high percentage shots,
close to the goal that go in - it's impressive for a two year old!
He's getting better at pedaling his "motorcycle" but it's still
tough because even if he gets the direct correctly, there's not
much traction on that front wheel.
Swim lessons continue to be great. He is jumping in and
controlling his breath under water, without fear now. The
teacher reports he is streets ahead of other kids (we'd like to
think so, but she's very nice, might be exaggerating a wee bit.)
Friday was France Day at school - Sawyer was tasked with
bringing in a fruit tart for tasting (we would have LOVED to
have seen it when the kids tried the blue cheese, wouldn't
you? We doubt Sawyer would have got even close). He also
brought in a miniature Eiffel Tower for Show and Tell (his
absolute favorite thing - he wants to have S & T every day.)
But the song he learned takes the cake - watch video below.
Having both taken French in school and knowing this French
folk song, we roared with laughter. Enjoy.
However, by far the most exciting thing of the week was Brent
found Sawyer a Lego Hockey man like Sawyer's cousin
Aidan has. He's utterly thrilled about it but Mom and Dad are
finding it challenging trying to keep up with the tiny pieces -
which include two little skates!
