We Made It!

Athens was everything that we had hoped and more. The
weather could not have been more beautiful and the ruins
never ceased to be awe-inspiring. Our hotel was wonderfully
located - at the foot of the Acropolis and we found friendly
people everywhere we went.

The Electra - our hotel
We stayed at this neat hotel in the Plaka with
a great view of the Acropolis and near
everything.
Nighttime Shot
The Acropolis is all lit up at night. This shot is taken from
an ancient Roman ruin site near the ancient Agora.

View from our Room
This is the wonderful view from our room.
Our Room at the Electra
This shot allows you to see the Acropolis in the back
ground through the window - it was an amazing place.
Even the Pool Was Neat Looking
Our only problem was we were never actually at the hotel
when the pool was open - but it was beautiful.
Dinner Our First Night
Behind these thick trees is a very quaint restaurant
where we at our first night in Athens.
Stairway at the Electra
Like most European hotels the Electra has a
very elegant staircase in addition to a tiny
elevator. We found the elevator funny because
a heavily accented voice announced each
floor as you got to it.
Making Friends
Our second to last night in Athens it rained - we mean it
POURED - so much so that we got caught at this little cafe
under the awnings (that were not particularly water-proof)
for well over an hour. Though they hardly spoke English
and we spoke no Greek, we managed to make friends with
the waiter and his sister, the chef.
After the Rain
Having made friends the night before, we decided to
dine at "our cafe" the last night as well. There's nothing
like having to prop your feet up on the chair across from
you because the water was running 6-7" deep in the
streets!
