Airboating Through The Everglades

We ventured to Sawgrass Recreation Park to experience the
Florida Everglades. We took an airboat tour and came across a
14 foot alligator. We also enjoyed learning and meeting other
animals in the park's wildlife area.

Returning From Our Airboat Ride
It was approaching dusk as we toured the Everglades, so
the lighting gave everything a nice glow.
Keep Your Arms And Legs Inside The Boat
Another group heads out into the Everglades.
Cruising The Everglades
This thing was pretty noisy at high speeds, so
we wore ear plugs.
The Alligator Swims Toward Us
This alligator swam right up to the boat and
was inches from Brent.
Balancing Act
For some reason Brent decides to pose for
this picture on the edge of the deck.
Our Driver and Guide
Our guide cruised us around the Everglades at times over
35 MPH.
The Back Of The Boat
Another boat tries to catch up to us from
behind as Brent takes this shot looking back.
I'm Giving Her All She's Got
Brent tries his hand at driving the airboat.
Ready For Launch
This is a huge airboat with two propellers and room for
at least 30 people.
On The Everglades
You can see the unique environment of this wetland.
When we traveled through the high grass, the sturdy
grass blades whipped you, so you had to stay toward the
center of the boat to keep from being cut.
On The Everglades At Dusk
Another boat came over to where we were in order to see
the alligator we had found.
Watching Us
As we made our way into this alligator's territory, he
came out to keep an eye on us. Alligators usually sleep
during the day and hunt at night, so it was neat to see
this guy.
