Albuquerque, Dad's Eye Surgery, Orange Day And A
Ladybug
The Albuquerque trip continued with some swimming in a
very cold swimming pool (Dad partook, but Mom stayed
warm on the pool deck.) Unfortunately, however we were not
able to go on a bike ride because Sawyer still requires
training wheels and the only trails were gravel roads which
made riding impossible for him. That was disappointing
given the fact that there was anew foal at the local barn that
was a good ride but too long a walk.
Upon our return from Albuquerque Brent underwent eye
surgery for a detached and torn retina - quite a big deal. He
then had to spend the next seven days lying on his left side at
a 45 degree angle. He endured pain in his back as well as
his ear and face from the experience, not to mention a
terrible sore throat on that side - but he was quite a
wonderful patient. Sawyer did his best to help Daddy and
was good at staying away and being gentle with him - not the
norm!
During the week it was a bit of a "Spring Break" where the
school had some track and field races - Sawyer's team was
orange and Wal-mart graced us with the perfect shirt -
Sawyer insisted that Mommy get in on the action however.
Sawyer loves to go to Central Market with Mom - the health
food store where we find several of his specific foods. The
biggest reason is they have a shopping cart he refers to as
the Hot Rod. He has a favorite book about a hamster that
gets a hot rod put together, complete with flames, and wins a
race.
Otherwise this week Sawyer came home with a Lady Bug
box he had decorated complete with Lady Bug whom he
quickly set free in the back yard.

Confirming He Can Go On The Water Slide
Sawyer was thrilled to learn that he could go
on the water slide at the hotel. We found more
than one of these at the hotel and he needed
to stand in front of each one...multiple times.
Wearing His New Advancial Raincoat To
School
Everyone on the trip got an Advancial jacket -
even Sawyer!
Mom And Sawyer In Their Orange
Sawyer's had to wear orange for team day at
school. He insisted Mommy do the same to
support the effort. His shirt came home
veritably destroyed which we found more than
respectable.

We couldn't get the training wheels to work on
the gravel road unfortunately so there was no
family ride to the local barn.

Sawyer enjoyed swimming with dad despite the fact that

Sawyer Snuggles Daddy As He Recovers From Eye
Surgery
Brent had a partially detached and partially separated
retina that required surgery. The gas bubble they placed in
his eye requires him to lie on his left side elevated for 7
days straight.
