Sugar, Sugar Everywhere And Not A Speck To Eat, TOTs
Performance And Play Date
Sawyer is off all sugar, dairy, eggs and gluten and has been
for over a month now. He has really improved on it so we are
keeping it going. This, however, can be challenging at
birthday parties and other celebrations. However, he is
actually starting tor realize how good he feels when he
doesn't eat these things and that, coupled with Mommy
getting with the program and finding treats he can have
instead and bringing those along has really helped.
Never have we been so impressed than at a birthday party
where there was first sugar for prizes, then juice to drink,
pineapple for the fruit, mini hamburgers for lunch, chips
(which Mom just doesn't really allow), snow cones, ice
cream, cake, cookies and more candy in his "goody bag" and
our little man turned it all down for his cup cakes and the
promise to go and get "meat" (a regular hamburger)
afterwards. Kate didn't even need to intervene. Wow!
He had a blast having a "snow ball fight" with Frosty - where
Sawyer almost took down the poor blow-up toy - our boy has
a very competitive spirit.
Later that day we had a fantastic play date with our friends
the Daulerios whom we met at Gymboree three and a half
years ago - it's always great to see them and Sawyer loves
going to their house - they have a ton of toys - and all new to
Sawyer - even a couple of cars he can drive!
The sugar attack continued later in the week when we went
and saw him do very well in his Teams of Tomorrow
"performance" at the girls middle school basketball game.
TOTs as they call it, is an organization that teaches
basketball skills to preschoolers. We laughed so hard we
cried - it was wonderful to watch him have so much fun - and
once again he turned down the candy because we had
promised him a different treat. Phew!
