Snow In Texas, Afternoon At The Bounce House, Haircut,
And Sight Words

Everyone told Kate "it never snows in Texas" so this year of
course we are nine for nine where it did actually snow - and
pretty hard at that.  But of course we had fun and made the
most of it.  Sawyer gets to school right when it opens at 6:30
when it's only him and the other teachers and it affords him
the opportunity to get some extra attention.  The morning it
snowed he got to build a tiny snowman with them - it was
wonderful.  They give him lots of individualized attention and
he laps it up.

Being cold, it was difficult to go outside and play so Brent
gave Sawyer a special treat and took him to a new bounce
house one afternoon after school.  There are few things
more fun than the bounce house.  Another fun pass time is
get one's hair cut - mostly because Ms. Brandy, the salon
owner and Sawyer (and Brent's) stylist has great videos to
watch and magnetic "paper" dolls that have hockey, soccer
and football outfits.  Mega cool stuff!

Otherwise our biggest excitement was the introduction of
sight words.  Sawyer has really taken to them - working hard
to remember them - we are looking forward to getting him to
embrace reading as much as possible.  We got word from
school that he is the only one of his classmates to know all
the words - cool stuff!

Otherwise this was the last week of the swim session (we
just keep him in year round) and that means it's water safety
day so all the kids get to jump into the pool fully dressed so
they know what it feels like if they fall in.  Now that's fun stuff!

We had a storm that brought some snow for the day. Well
it was really just the morning, because it melted before the
day ended.

Practicing His Words
Sawyer is working on reading words. School provided
some, but he mastered them, so we let him pick his own
to work on. He chose words like "basketball" and "actually."
