A Visit To See The Great Grandmothers
Great Grandmother Sheffield, Brent's 92 year old
grandmother (she will be 93 next month) has finally started to
slow down a bit. Until just a month ago she has continued to
live on her own and maintained her staunch independence,
but a stint at the hospital has changed things and her son
and daughter in law, John and Christy, have taken her to live
with them at their home about 30 miles from Enid, where
Grandmother has been for many years.
Consequently, it has finally come time to dismantle
Grandmother's town home where she has lived for eight
years - in fact we helped move her in right after we got
married.
We drove up to Oklahoma to try to retrieve a few things that
will be keepsakes from some wonderful memories that
Brent, Craig and Sandra have with their grandparents. We
also wanted to do what we could to help John and Christy
who have really done an incredible amount for the whole
family.
Sawyer was quite the little sport, despite way too little sleep
and way too little "bounce time" and way too much time in a
car for his parents and 19 year old cousin, Andrew, let alone
for him. But he could not have been more charming with his
great grandmothers.
On the way back to Texas, we took advantage of the
opportunity to stop by and see Great Grandmother Joachims
as well and play with her projector that allows her to see
images much larger on her big screen TV - as her sight is
very poor and she had lost the ability to read or even look at
photos. We ALL had a great time.
