His First Real Hockey Game, Staying With The Sheffield
Grandparents, Playing With Cousins
For Dad's work we headed back to Southern California
midweek and Sawyer got a chance to spend some great
quality time with both sets of cousins as well as both sets of
grandparents.
First, Sawyer got to "see a hockey game from the inside" - as
Brent put it, when he was able to participate in a scrimmage
of fathers against sons which was the end of 3 day hockey
clinic where Kate's brother Erle had his son Graham
enrolled. Cousin Aidan was also on hand and Sawyer,
Graham, Erle and Aidan all played - it was quite a time.
Sawyer's cousins came back to inform us that the next
youngest boy out there was more than a year older than
Sawyer and their cousin was by NO MEANS the worst one on
the ice! In fact, the man running the clinic told the Petries
and Sheffield that Sawyer needed to move to Southern
California because he wanted him in the League. We don't
think Sawyer was nearly as excited as his cousins were by
this big compliment.
Sawyer then had a wonderful time with the Verrengia cousins
and Sheffield grandparents - they went to the beach and the
library. At the former they had a wonderful time at the park
just adjacent to the sand and at the latter they saw an
incredible show where a woman actually got inside a bubble.
Finally, Sawyer's swimming was greatly improved by an
afternoon in the pool with the whole gang - he loved it!
