Trying Out The New Skates, San Antonio For The Weekend
And Fighting Pirates!
This week in swim class, Sawyer had to swim to the "Pirate
Ship" and then he was given a foam "sword" where he was
to swash-buckle away! And he certainly went to town with the
idea. For that he earned an eye patch which he thought was
particularly funny - though he did decide to take it off before
he actually went down the slide. We continue to get rave
reviews as he loves swim lessons - always smiling and
moving pretty quickly and just enjoying it all the way around
which is of course the most important.
Over the weekend we traveled to San Antonio where we went
to Sea World - be sure to click through to the other page to
take a look. We had a great time with our friends the Suttons.
On Friday we were finally able to get him back out on the ice.
He went to a group lesson for the first time - but was able to
have a private one before. His new skates are referred to as
"rockers" and that's because the blade is really shaped like a
rocking chair's. There is no room for error - if one leans back
or forward just a little bit, then one will fall. Sawyer did fall
quite a bit at first but then really got the hang of it quickly. He
was tickled to have the skates on for the first time, loved
wearing his gear and came off the ice so excited that he
couldn't fall asleep until almost 10:00 - almost two hours
past his bed time! It wouldn't be such a big deal if the next
day weren't his birthday party.
Finally, as part of the party-favors, we ordered hockey rubber
duckies - and Sawyer was utterly enthralled - he of course
had to line them all up but more than that he could quickly tell
you the differences among them - for instance some did not
have pucks on their sticks and he decided they would go
after those that did - it was pretty funny.
