Memorial Day Trip
Over a four day period of time we drove over 1,350 miles and
covered a lot of ground! Officially we went to see where Kate
was born and grew up for her first eight years. We were able
to go in Kate's old house but the best was walking down the
path behind her home that brought back great memories and
it was fun to see Sawyer love the trees and wooded area.
In Sioux Falls, South Dakota he loved running on the grassy
areas around the falls, but especially climbing on the rocks -
our little guy is pretty sure-footed though pretty cautious at the
same time.
In Mitchell, SD he had fun at the Corn Palace but we got
wonderfully lucky and there was a street fair going on,
complete with a bounce-house-slide - which could not have
been more fun. That said, the man dressed as Buzz
Lightyear scared our little guy more than anything we'd ever
seen - "We need to get away from Buzz Lightyear Daddy!"
Along the way, we took advantage of all sorts of stops - like
parks, large statues of random animals, McDonald's (where
we played Foosball with Mommy) and of course the
ever-popular Target (where we chose some cool LEGO
motorcycles with Daddy!)
Every hotel room was a new adventure, with a new bathtub to
'swim' in and a different "bed" every night. We are starting to
realize that Sawyer is a bit big for cribs and Pack 'n Plays, but
he actually still likes having his own little space when it's
time for bed. However, one night we woke with him grunting
because his feet were stuck through the bars. Might be time
to graduate him to a "Big Boy Bed" soon!
Finally, who could beat going to a town named after yourself?!
