California Trip For Pie's Birthday

We traveled to Southern California for Kate's mom's
birthday and for a good friend's wedding, so it was a busy
and quick trip. Sawyer got a chance to see his cousins on
both sides of the family and also got to meet the daughter of
Kate's cousin - an adorable Irish 4-year-old named
Doiranne.

In the process he learned how to open a door, discovered
he really likes big dogs (especially sweet Dalmatians), and
smaller dogs like Russ and Grace's miniature Australian
Shepherd Roxie, he licked his first ice cream cone with his
daddy, and showed off to the DFW airport how he could
push his own stroller more than 7 gates, (Mom did help
with steering a bit.)

While waiting for the plane on Friday night we discovered
the joy of the Golden Arches at DFW because they have a
great little play area - Sawyer dominated the "car" and flirted
shamelessly with a couple of ladies eating Big Macs!

Dad And Sawyer Eat An Ice Cream Cone Together
This was his first ice cream cone. Even though it was cold
on his mouth, he still wanted more.
Having Fun In The McDonald's Car
Sawyer had great fun sitting and crawling all over this soft
car as we sat for an extended time waiting for our delayed
flight at DFW Airport.
Sawyer First Birthday Cake
Mom prepares Sawyer's cake in advance since there is a
lot to do before the party.
