Ringing In The New Year With A 14 Month Old!

The weather in Southern California continued to be
excellent - both the day after Christmas and on the 27th - it
was a bit difficult to leave.

We spent the 26th with the Sheffields as planned - this also
included the Verrengias and therefore cousins CJ and
Anthony - that's always a hoot.  We all went to the Nixon
Library to see a magnificent Lego Train display - it was
magical.

And who would have thought that a presidential library
would be so much fun for a 14 month old - but Sawyer
adored the long corridors and the pathways in the gardens -
he really discovered running that day - and he just did not
want to stop!

He also discovered that if he has some kind of a railing he
can not only WALK up stairs but he can also WALK down
them!  Yikes!  He was so pleased with himself he both
winded himself running and then just loved the challenge of
working the stairs - both at the library and then at the
McDonald's playground afterward.

Later in the week we traveled to Kansas City to ring in the
New Year.  Sawyer loved the hotel room - there were so
many things to explore and get into - especially the toilet
paper!  He also discovered the handle to the toilet itself and
just loved the fact that he could make so much noise.

In Kansas City we went to the Truman Library and it was
almost a repeat of earlier in the week, except of course for
the fact that it was 60 degrees colder!!

Sawyer had a great time until he took a bit of a tumble into
the snow and then it was just WAY too cold and he wasn't
terribly amused - he is a California boy at heart - extreme
cold is not his idea of a good time.

Actually freezing. Sawyer wanted to play on the
toys just outside, but the wind and 10 degree
weather made it painful to be outside too long.
