We Must Have Done Something Right
Sunday morning we motivated early to take a tandem kayak
down the Allegheny river to "The Point," which is where the
three rivers, the Ohio, the Allegheny and the Monongahela
meet.
Though Kate struggled a bit at first, after some instruction she
really got the hang of it, and though she left the boat totally
drenched Brent, of course was bone-dry.
The best part was the girl who rented us the kayaks was
exceedingly impressed and said she had never seen anyone
negotiate a tandem so well!
The Love Boat
Brent and Kate come in to the dock.
Beautiful Bridges
Pittsburgh is known for it bridges - 211 (if you
count the one that is buried) in all. And since
the steel industry cleared out, the rivers have
really been cleaned up. We saw lots of
people swimming.
Anchors Away!
Behind Brent is a submarine that was built for World War
II but never saw any action. It is darker than usual right
now because they are repainting it. Kate had difficulty
getting a straight shot with the boat swaying in the water!
We're Going The Wrong Way!
Though we were recommended to go one direction, of
course we had to go the other, but our efforts were well
rewarded. On our trip we got to see both the football and
baseball stadiums - which, like the rest of this city, are
gorgeous! Behind Brent you can see Heinz Field where
the Steelers play.
Stroke!
Not too deep with the strokes there Kate.
Take Me Out To The Ball Game
Behind Kate is PNC Field where the Pirates play. We
saw them get creamed by the Phillies the following
evening, on the 4th of July, 11-1. Ouch!
