Having A Beer In Church
While Kate's brother Russ was doing a fellowship in
Orthopedic Surgery here, he called her on Sunday morning and
announced that the previous evening he had "A beer in church."
Ever since then, Kate has wanted to see this old Lutheran
church that, when it was in danger of being torn down, was
purchased by an entrepreneur who restored it and turned it into
a restaurant and micro brewery.
We had a fantastic meal and the beer was very tasty!

So We Ate In The Courtyard...
...and therefore, technically, we didn't have a beer IN
church. Though the cavernous interior of the building was
acoustically wonderful for a minister, it's a bit loud when
you have dozens of people dining on a Saturday night,
besides the evening was gorgeous and in Texas, with the
heat, one doesn't often get a chance to dine al fresco.

The front door does not look like the entrance
to a restaurant. Even with the sign to the left,
we weren't sure if we were going to the right
place!

The Altar
As you can see the altar has the main stills. What you
can't see however, is that they use the old pews as bench
seating in the restaurant. We'd like to think it's because
they wanted to preserve as much of the church as
possible, rather than the tax break they receive for making
it into an historic monument...

Shined to Perfection
No matter how shiny the stills, they still look
pretty weird in a gorgeous old church. But
we can't say we didn't like it!

What's In A Name
Thank goodness for this sign, because save it, there is
nothing to indicate this is a restaurant and pub!
