1931 6th Avenue, N.E. Rochester, MN 55901

In 1974 Kate's mom and dad built their dream home which
Kate's father designed with an amazing builder named Arnie
Burgler - he was literally known everywhere for being a true
craftsman.

Kate couldn't help herself and went and knocked on the door to
find the people who own the house are those who bought it in
1978.  The gentleman, Mr. Kreiger, gave Kate, Brent and
Sawyer a tour of the inside.

Beyond that, we walked around the area, getting photos all
over, including going all the way down Kellogg Path, which
leads to Kellogg Junior High (and the candy store a bit further!)
Kate And Sawyer By The Side Of The House
Pie used to have a beautiful garden, and the yard has in fact
been nicely kept up.

Kate's Old Room
Though now a work shop Kate remembers it with baby
blue carpet, white walls and a canopy bed.

Kellogg Path Gets Steeper The Further You Go
It hasn't changed a bit in 33 years since Kate left.
The Ocean Voyager Exhibit Tunnel
The floor moves slowly to keep the crowds moving forward.
Kate's Old House
It was formerly a natural wood color with a bright red door!
The Garage Is The Same
Pie used to hang meat to make biltong (a South African
type of beef jerky)  from the hooks in the ceiling.
The Pool Is Gone
In its place the Kreigers put in the shed and an extra room.

Kellogg Path
The Petrie kids used to ride their bikes down here.
The Tiny Tree Grows Up
When the Petries left, Kate's brothers, Erle
and Russ, used to jump over this tree!

Zinckes' homes.
The Retaining Wall Is Original
But there used to be a sandbox straight
ahead and the pool on the left.
The "Short Cut" - Yikes It's Steep!
This photo hardly does it justice, but this was
the "short cut" down which the boys loved to go!
Sawyer And Mom Stop For A Photo-Op
Sawyer had fun walking down, but wanted
Daddy to carry him coming up!
The Entrance To The Petrie Home
The tile and light fixture are the same but the
hardwood floor in the living is a neat addition!
The Zinckes
The thing that made it hardest to leave was leaving was the
Zinckes.  Kate's best friends, Marian and Tanja Zincke,
who were 8 months younger and 6 months older than Kate
respectively, lived across the street.   The whole family was
at Kate's wedding and we visited Marian and his family in
Germany 2 years ago.
Looking Toward Kate's House
You can barely see it at the right straight ahead.  The
Zincke's home is on the left in the foreground.
