Famous Sites Of Houston, Texas
John Milkovisch started his project now known as the Beer Can
House in 1968 when he began inlaying thousands of marbles,
rocks, brass figures and metal pieces into concrete to form an
unique landscaping. When the entire front and back were
completely covered because he "got sick of mowing the grass",
he turned to the house itself and began adding aluminum
siding - aluminum beer can siding, that is.
Over 50,000 beer cans adorn this monument to recycling. The
cans are beer cans from any beer "that was on special."
Apparently John drank a six pack a day during the creation of
his home art.
