Attractions Of The Area

Brent had to see Tony the Tiger, but was disappointed to learn
that Kellogg's Cereal City was permanently closed. Battle Creek
had seen better days as a city which is probably the case for
much of Michigan. East Lansing was still a happening place as
the large student population of the Michigan State University
keep the college town buzzing. We drove through Kalamazoo,
because Brent likes the city name, but it did not offer a lot to see
or do.

Brochures and Web sites promoted the

Muskegon, Michigan
The Hackley & Hume Historic site preserves the homes
of Muskegon's most famous lumber baron, Charles H.
Hackley, and his business partner, Thomas Hume.
Muskegon, Michigan
The Hackley House is truly a unique example of Victorian
architecture and of late nineteenth century interior
decorative arts. Built as a retirement residence, the
house has an exotic feel, complete with Moorish arches,
japonesque stenciling details, and majolica tiles.
