Exploring Paris

We were able to catch up on several occasions with a good
friend, Ilana, who lives in Paris. We met for dinner one rainy
evening, she explored Pere Lachaise Cemetery with us and she
invited us to her place to watch as the French Presidential
election results were being announced.

In Paris the river flows roughly westwards, cutting the city into
two halves: the Right Bank (La Rive Droite), to the north; and the
Left Bank (La Rive Gauche), to the south. The city of Paris is also
divided into 20 arrondissements municipaux (“municipal
boroughs,” approximately, in English). We'll stick with the left
and right banks for organizing the next Paris images.
It Rained So Hard The Place Started To Flood!
Shortly after this photo was taken we ended up having to
move upstairs - water was seeping in the walls and we
were in 2 inches of water and rising!
A Beautiful Apartment
Ilana showed us her new hard wood floors
and made us dinner before we headed back
to the States.
The Metro Station Entrances
Brent was utterly fascinated with the entrances to the
Metro Stations all over the city - many had a very fun,
Gothic quality to them much like this one.
The View From Ilana's Place
A typical street
The traffic in Paris is pretty darn significant -
with people driving all sorts of different types
of "vehicles" but almost invariably, they are
quite a bit smaller than what we have here.
Luckily The Rain Stopped
Ilana told us that the Pyramid at The Louvre
was beautifully lit at night and she was right.
