We Can Talk With The Animals
What a glorious day! Early on a Sunday morning we took the
hour and forty-five minute drive south west to Glenrose, Texas
and the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. It was worth the effort.
Not only did Kate have a very intimate run-in with a Giraffe, but
we were able to see many of the animals very close-up
because one can buy bags of large kibble to feed to them. The
animals are accustomed to this so they approach the vehicles
hoping for a snack.
It took us about 2 hours to drive through the whole park (which
included all of our gawking, picture taking and a 1/2 hour stop
at the Nature Center). We saw Rhino, Cheetah, Gnu, Emu,
Llama, Wild Turkey, Elk, Zebra, Buffalo and so much more. It's
definitely a MUST-DO-AND-SEE if you are in the Metroplex!
Kissy Kissy
Beanpole the Giraffe was hoping Kate had
some food for him. Sorry big guy...
It Just Keeps Going and Going and Going...
We had to open the sunroof to see the rest.
Hey Buddy, Where's The Food?
A sign warned specifically about the zebra,
who are quite aggressive and can bite. We
didn't see the chompers but he was pretty
persistent wanting some grub!
It's Bambi!
We missed Thumper and Flower though...
Say Cheese!
It was fun to be able to see the animals so close-up.
Who Says The Buffalo Aren't Roaming?
Well here is proof that "Home On The Range" is still alive
and well - at least in the Lone Star State!
There's A Sign You Don't See In Texas Every Day...
But the message was real. It turns out that Austin isn't the only place in Texas with hills. The terrain
we found reminded us of our trip to Africa and the velt.
Brushing Up
We weren't allowed to feed the goats, but we
were allowed to brush them - which they
seemed to enjoy.
The Road To The Rim
The drive itself made the whole adventure worthwhile. We
passed through some of the most beautiful parts of Texas
we've seen yet.
