What's In A Name?
When they first named this little ski resort we're not sure why
they called it Purgatory - as it's beautiful and we wouldn't mind
getting stuck here for a good long while.
However, obviously the name hasn't made the place that
successful because they have recently changed it to Durango
Mountain Resort - which does seem more fitting.
Our whole trip was really based around the Alpine slide - so be
sure to click through to the next page to see the fun!
A Grand Entrance
Though this photo does not do it justice, the entrance to the
resort is really pretty impressive. If you look closely you can
see how tall the pillars of stone are vis a vis the full-sized
truck in front of them.
The Hotel
Being the off-season, we were able to stay at this rather
lovely hotel for very little dough. It was located about 25
minutes outside of Durango itself, but was well worth the
extra drive!
The View
You can't beat the view in Colorado - just about anywhere
you look there's more beauty to behold. This was the little
road that took us up to the hotel where we stayed.
