We The People...
It's nothing like the movie National Treasure - or at least so we
were told by the guard who should know. The National Archives
holds not only The Bill Of Rights and The Constitution, but The
Magna Carta as well.
A beautiful building, the security around it is quite impressive - as
is the security in all of these museums - but what has been
constructed to preserve this country's most prized documents is
quite amazing.
We were surprised to find that though it was next to impossible to
read The Bill Of Rights, the ink on The Constitution remains
vibrant and clear - even after more than 200 years.
Fittingly Grand To House Our Constitution & Bill of Rights
We stood outside on a rather chilly day for over an hour, but
the wait was more than worth it.
Famous Signatures
George Washington's signature is easily seen at the top
of the list after several pages of Thomas Jefferson's
beautiful handwritting.
The Bill Of Rights
The ink is now so faint on the Bill Of Rights
that's it's almost impossible to see John
Hancock's famous signature.
