Cruisin' the art scene baby!

The last time Kate was at the art institute she was 6 and King
Tut was making his first tour of the U.S. This time we had the
opportunity to visit the regular collection that this incredible
museum has to offer, including American Gothic by Grant Wood,
The Child's Bath by Mary Cassatt and A Sunday on La Grande
Jatte by George Seurat. We loved it.
Soaking it in
After the number of parodies we've seen, it
was neat to see the real thing.
American Gothic
Did you know that this is actually the artist's
dentist and his dentist's daughter? All inspired
by a window.
A Sunday on La Grande Jatte
This enormous painting by George Seurat is one of the
most famous works of pointillism in the world.
Did We Mention The Stairs?
Oh yeah, and they paint those as well. It's a
hilly environment - and they used it well.
A Child's Bath
Mary Cassatt spent time in Paris with the rest
of the impressionist painters but was actually
a native of the U.S.
California in Miniature
This amazing miniature is entitled "California Home
1960's."
