Ballooning At The New Great Park In Irvine, California

We could not have had a better day for soaring high above
Irvine and the former El Toro Air Force Base where the city of
Irvine has decided to convert the massive space into what they
are going to call "The Great Park." (Yeah, we thought the name
a bit odd as well - wonder how many committees it took to
approve that...)

It was so much fun to enjoy the trip up (the balloon will be a
permanent fixture at the park) with Brent's parents, sister,
brother-in-law and their two kids, C.J. and Anthony - a perfect
excursion for our little group.

The park is going to include a whole nature reserve with lots of
hiking and running trails, an outside arena for concerts and a
Memorial for those who served. They are trying to recycle as
much of what they can from the old base (including huge slabs
of concrete) to create the park - just the recycling effort alone is
quite impressive - we can't wait to see it when it's done!
A Beautiful Day
We enjoyed wonderful weather as we took a balloon ride in
a new park in Irvine, CA called Great Park. When
completed, it should be a resource.
Enjoying The Views
Brent's sister, Sandra, and her son, Anthony,
enjoy the balloon ride and great view.
